Talking of this weekend.

We have the Barony of Highland Foord: Baronial Champions Tourney on Friday at 6:30. Come watch the best in the area suck it out for the title of Champion.

We have a brewing class Brewing a Medieval Lambic! Happening on Saturday evening. Learn the basics of brewing this medieval fruit beer! Students will take home a Growler of this brew 3 weeks later!

Also on Saturday, we have a Halo Reach Tourney happening from noon till 5. Come on in, play a few games and have fun on the newest of the Halo games!

ALSO on Saturday from 3-5pm Steve is holding a Magic:The Gathering Two Headed Giant Session. Come on by and win some packs for your team.

Sunday we are going to the MDRF, leaving the Haven at 9am. Come and enjoy a brew with Celtic music at the best Ren Fair in the Nation.

We are looking to “Hire” some more store assistants. Perks include free membership upgrades, early registering for events, and other assorted freebies. Interested? Let us know.

A gentle reminder to the folk with storage shelves, please keep your stuff on your assigned shelves. There is a $5 fine and we take ownership clause in the rules section for stuff left unattended overnight.

Another lovely week. Many of our members have been enjoying end of the summer fun, or starting to set up Autumn plans.
The Haven Calendar through Christmas has been posted! Classes will be added as more teachers sign up.  Magic: The Gathering fans will be excited to see that we have a series of tournments set up with some quite excellent prizes and a whole range of formats.
For those that signed up, the newbie Heavy Fighting class starts this Friday at 6:30!

Notes and Updates.

As I am sure you have noticed Historichaven.com has been given a facelift, and now hosts several new features such as the option to pay your membership online!

We are in the midst of scheduling our autumn classes.  If you have a class you wish to teach, or be taught, please let us know so we can schedule it at Classes@HistoricHaven.Com.

Paperwork has now been officially brought up to date post-Pennsic.  Invoices were sent out today for the last 2 months outstanding or upcoming tabs.

Brainstorm Comics is having a Grand Opening for its new location this Saturday.  They are back downtown at the Ten Thousand Joys location at 54 E. Patrick Street.

Youth D&D games have been voiced as an interest.  If you want to teach, mentor, or have a child (under 18) that wants to get in on this, let us know ASAP.

We are going to start updating with a Haven Member of the Week posting. These will include a photo, a brief bio and an interview with your fellow members, to be published here so you can know who they are!

There is a new Intro to Heavy Fighting class, which is starting up on Sept 17th. It is one hour a week on Fridays starting at 6:30pm. New students will be supplied the use of armor, weapons, and other assorted gear during the class and be trained by multiple SCA knights on their proper use over the course of this class. At the end, students will go to a medieval recreation fieldtrip and become SCA certified!

Upcoming Events:

Sunday Sept 12 – Gene’s Tomb Of Horror. Come play in this D&D 3.5 One-off module for 9th level characters. Players who survive to the end will receive a months free standard membership! This is open only to folk who have never played this legendary module before.

Friday Sept 17th – Intro to the Medieval Martial Arts. The start of our 6 week path to glory. Get armored up, learn the basics and get certified in medieval sword and shield fighting. Students who attend all 6 one hour classes will have their cert paid for by us!

Wed 22nd Blacksmithing Day.  Come and get your safety class done, or play on the forge if you’ve got it already.  We will start at 2 and forge all afternoon.

Sat Sept 26th – Basics of Scroll Layout and design. Learn the basics of scroll layout, and design for a balanced scroll.

Sunday Oct 3rd – Renfest! We will be visiting the MDRF for Celtic Weekend. Dress Up and come out, listen to live celtic bands while drinking/eating your self silly, and hang out with your fellow Havenites.
