The Historic Haven Newsletter

Greetings,

Well, we have had a busy 2 weeks. We have changed one of the seating areas, and tightened up the Media area seating, and sound. (We would love to have a pro come in and help us set up all these speakers).

Gene has talked with many members, and we would like to start working on the new outdoor seating area. The current plan is as follows:

1)Empty out the courtyard. This has been approved by the landlady, so even the old dog house is gone. We would like to invite you all to to come in on Wednesday March 28th at 3 pm with a car or truck, or just your arms to help us load up and transport it all to the dump.

2)Repaint/touchup the lintels and walls/fix up the existing structures,. We want fix things like the plantboxes (and put in new plants), repaint, and fix the edging/add new stones and cover the trash area with a privacy lattice.

3)Put in new seating, shade, and sound system, including but not limited to: A wood or Resin Poly Picknic Table, a 6X8 Umbrella, Outdoor Light System, Outdoor Sound system, To do all this, we are going to need to raise $600 to pay for all of these upgrades.

We will send out the Kickstarter page this week!

Steve has updated the member board to include all our new members!

Group Events

Hunger Games Friday evening at 10:30pm, let us know by Noon on Friday if you want in on cheep tickets.

The Historic Haven Newsletter

Greetings,
Steve is moving personal shelves around this week, and updating names on boards. If you are using a shelf and should not be, be aware we will be claiming anything we find.

We want to ask peoples opinion of the sitting area we put in the front room.

We are going to be adjusting Martial Member benefits starting in April to better reflect what folk are using, and to keep it more in line with costs.

Group Events

Steve and Gene will be going on the hunt for the Snarly Yowl on March 30th, and April 1st. Our patrol routes will range north along the Appalachian Trail 2 miles to the original Washington Monument, and south 3.5 miles to the FEMA bunker on top on Lamb’s Knoll. We shall delve into the nighted graveyards of Zittlestown, home of the Zittlestown Wizard, the tunnels under the gothic Dahlgren Chapel, and the “canyons” of the Snarly Yowl legend. Camping is free, and the food looks to be delish! If you want to join us for this real life D&D style qest, then let us know!

RPG News
Gene would like to set up a GMs meet and greet for GM members on the Fourth Friday of each month at 8pm. We will exchange stories, ideas, and problems. There will also be speakers on game style issues and methods. Light snacks and drinks will be provided.

CCG News
We had 16 CCG players this Wednesday, playing a ton of different games.

Next week we will playing Archenemy, and Gene and Steve will be trying out Pokemon again with Mike and Mikey (and prob Chris, Jeff, and Erin’s clan).

Wargammer News
This Saturday at 2pm is the Malifaux Tournament. Tables are soon to be finished, and three of them are going home with our top players! Jeremy has been working away at scenario details, and thinks this is going to be rocking with 11 planned players!
Sunday is our painting day starting at 2pm. Come on in, get a mini painted and have fun!

Crafter News
Steve has had an epiphany, so expect a lot of forward movement on the crafting room. We are planning to instigate the book/lock system starting April 1st (as is layed out in the crafting room rules, but never enforced) to keep an eye on what people are using and for what.

Please have your finger gauntlet pieces shaped/cleaned, so that Tacius can tell you where to punch holes. Gene and Steve will take them to be hardened on next Wednesday.
Tim will be teaching a coate of plate class this Friday starting at 8pm!

Member of the Week

Rachel Seratte

One of our more art oriented folks, Rachel is a member of the Scriptorium, a crafter, and full time artist. Owner of a bird, two spiders, and a cat. NEXT weekend is Naruto Marathon all weekend! Come in for giant demons, ninjas, cool food, and amazing cosumes.
